The Slammer
about the show
The Slammer is Friends meets The Breakfast Club about four teens trying to survive high school.
Ozzie, Eli and Matt are three life-long friends who've grown up in Clovis, a boring small town in central Kansas. When Emily, a dead-pan sixteen-year-old arrives from Toronto, the boys start to learn what it takes to make female friends, Emily learns why she had it so good in Canada; and they all start to figure out how to get through high school, and do it laughing. A show about good days, bad days, fist crushes and first breakups, cafeteria food and adults dressing as groundhogs, The Slammer is a high-school sitcom about finding your people… or at least the people you don’t mind, (that much).
about the characters
ozzie
Ozzie is from Clovis, born and bred. He is a slightly pompous but loveable nerd who has a passion for money-making schemes and solving non-existent mysteries. Shockingly self-confidant, he is a real armchair expert, giving advice freely but taking it rarely. You can picture him sort of like Schmitt from New Girl.
eli
Eli is part of a big Kansan family with five siblings, three guinea pigs, and a free ranging pet tarantula. He is a bro, but not obnoxious and though sometimes he gets things wrong, his heart is always in the right place. He is remarkably selfless and would do anything for the people he loves. You can imagine him a little like Joey from Friends.
matt
Matt is a dorky 10th grader who loves art house movies and straight-A report cards. He is a hypochondriac, deathly afraid of pigeons, and drinks milk when nervous, (which is pretty much always). He is a little similar to a younger version of Leonard from The Big Bang Theory.
emily
Emily arrives at BOGS in the 10th grade, having moved from Toronto. She is unamused and kinda disturbed by her new surroundings. She is passionate about the Toronto Maple Leafs, alone time, and hard rock. The only thing she’s ever openly expressed love for is her electric guitar. She's a dry, sarcastic, person who takes no BS. She’s a bit of a mix between Stevie from Schitt’s Creek and Beca from Pitch Perfect.
This show was made about teens and is written by teens.
It’s for everyone who never found their place in high school and for everyone who had the best four years of their life in high school.
We’ve written a show about high school because we’re not all useless, phone-addicted Gen-whatevers. Becuase we don’t all look like the stars of High School Musical or All American. Becuase our lives don’t purely revolve around trying to have sex.
Because the world is a lot. Because we have to laugh. becuase real friendships matter.
This is the show we need.
